Gunnar and Mr.Austin
Gunnar has wanted to host Mr. Austin since his first time seeing it and so he was picked after a long campaign. He hosted with Ashley and had a great time. I was sick at home, like my life usually. I hated to miss it, but David and Qatar attended and enjoyed the evening. Next year Gunnar will compete with the other seniors for the honor of being Mr. Austin.

Books 21,22,23,24,25,26 27 and 28 Indridson is a master.
Not really scary like I would have thought.
I liked this even though it was very much like a text book. Lots of information and small print, but worth the time to read. This gave me great ideas and I like the part about having your spouse support you while you try your art. Thank heaven for David.
Good, but I've never read any of these authors and many have interesting heroins.
Love this author, loved this book. His writing is haunting, I think about it long after I'm finished reading it. I love the fact that I have been to the places he talks about. Great book, great author. If you like murder mystery this is one for you. Gripping, sorrowful, loss and grief. You feel for him as a man, as a detective, and you feel for his personal life and the way it has tainted everything around him and the way he sees the world. Our lives have done that to each of us. We each see the world differently then those around us. Our life experiences color our environment. Rarely do any two people see things the same way. Highly recommended. I wish I read Icelandic so I could read them all.
Three are the end of the series I've been reading, the author may write another but it will be the last, at least for awhile. I hate to come to the end of a series I feel like I'm leaving good friends behind. Off to find another author to explore. The last was a Bullet Catchers series and it was like the Troubleshooters, not quite as good. I'm tiring to find some new authors.

Carnival Fun
The Banfield carnival was Friday the 19th and Amanda, Gunnar and I made balloon items again. When they called and asked us to do it I said sure, but didn't look for the balloons until the week of the carnival. Procrastination is still a problem I have. I finally looked at how many balloons I had, and realized I didn't have enough. I ordered some and had to ship them overnight. WOW that is expensive. I will be better at checking how many I have next year.
The carnival was fun like usual and the missionaries came for dinner and seemed to have a great time and won several items.

JT and the almost out tooth
He is almost missing both front teeth. I've tried to pull it, but it is not quite ready yet. I want it out and so does he. He will look so cute and can sing that silly song about his two front teeth. We will keep trying and when we get it out I will take a photo for all of you. Its not quite hanging by a string, its more like half out and half not.

Gunnar, Gunnar, Gunnar
Gunnar will be hosting Mr. Austin on Monday the 22nd of February. He has been practicing with his co-host and we are all looking forward to attending. The event is raising money to send to Haiti for the earthquake victims. I told him he should write a song to sing when they crown the new Mr. Austin, but he didn't seem to keen on the idea. Something along the lines of, "Here he comes, Mr. Austin." Cheesy is good in cases like these. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do, he and his co-host wrote the script, it should be an adventure to attend.
Thursday night he was asked to sing the national anthem and we missed it, they asked him five minutes before they needed him to sing. It was a Basketball game he was attending.

Cenneidigh and the personal science experiment
The yellow flower now in the red water.
The blue flower in the yellow water now.
The red flower now in the blue.
The second round of primary colors at the end of the experiment.
The first experiment all the flowers in one color.
Cenneidigh wanted to try an experiment one of her friends did for the science fair, so we went to the store and bought three carnations and food coloring. Cenneidigh set it all up and put one flower in each primary color. She used red, yellow and blue. The flowers sucked up the color and she was amazed. Then we cut off the stems and stuck the flowers in one of the other colors to see what would happen. The yellow flower in red, the blue flower in yellow, and the red flower in blue. See the above photos for the results. She had fun figuring out if her friends experiment would really work and then it did. Amazing!!!!

Subbing again
I was called yesterday to sub music. The last time I did, was one of the most boring days I've worked. I played videos all day for the different classes. This time the teachers notes told me to follow her notes or play the list of videos. Well it may be hard to believe, but there are people out there with worse handwriting then mine. I did my best to decipher her notes, and when the 1st class came in with recorders I finally knew what one note said. We played the recorders and then some of the other instruments in the room. After 3 classes of that, the 3rd graders came in without recorders so I played the video. After lunch I found a book called, "I'm a sub for a music teacher what do I do?" The 2nd graders and I played "Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar" and I followed the instructions in the book and it became a rhythm game. Everyone seemed to be having fun and it took up all the time for them to really get it going. Near the end of the day there was a Code Red and then the day was done. It was a fun day, but I feel like I cheated the 3rd graders. I looked over the book and next time I will be better prepared.

Books 17, 18,19 and 20.
This was a book on CD that I listened to in the car on the way to work. Not my thing at all, depressing and sad and I hate that. The start is the death of a couple who leaves 2 kids and 6 friends grief struck. The rest of the book goes into their lives, the ones left behind, and how they come to terms with their loss. Hated it, emotional roller-coaster and I'm glad it is finished. Sad and depressing and yes everyone comes to terms with their death in their own way, but it was way to long and melancholic. Yuck!!!!!
Another in the series I'm reading. The author has a gay son and this was about a gay FBI agent and his upcoming wedding to a gay actor. Interesting, not really my thing, but I was already in love with the FBI agent Jules from all the other books he's been in and this book moved the Troubleshooters story along. This reminded me of some friends I have, so it was fun to read.Another Troubleshooter book this was before the first one I posted. Pushed the story forward and we met some of the characters we had met earlier on. Another office opened in Florida for the Troubleshooters.
It is amazing that this man is still alive, he should be dead with all the things he put in his body and all the things he didn't. I love the last line in the book. " Scottish by birth, but American on purpose." Mormon mention and all positive. He worked with Marie Osmond on a sitcom and loved all the Mormons he got to know working on the show. It's amazing what the human body and mind can go though and still survive.

Happy Birthday Ezekiel now 11!!
Happy Birthday Zeke. 11 years old today and WOW the times flies. He is busy singing and not practicing the piano or the drums right now like I've asked him to. For his birthday we are going to a concert. A Chinese acrobat group at the HS, with the Austin Artist Series, it just happens to fall on his birthday this year. But it should be fun to see. Zeke you make life an adventure. I love you very much Happy 11th Birthday!!!!!!!!
Ice ice everywhere
Ice everywhere, every thaw is to short to make any headway in melting. And it keeps snowing and snowing. I hope we have a few more thaws before spring or we are going to flood and all those south of us. The snow is deep and icy. Our gutters need to be cleaned out, Ice is dripping from them. This ice dam is on my neighbors house, I might have some, but they are too high to see.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians –
Loved it, it did not really follow the book, but it was good. Lots of things they left out play a huge part in the next books so I'm not sure how that is going to work, but it was good. They left out Ares and his daughter Clarrise. The pine tree was not mentioned so that is going to be interesting since that is a major part of book 3-5. Medusa was great, scary especially in the fridge. Overall it was a good movie and exciting, a few slow spots but most was action packed. I read the reviews and didn't expect much so I was pleasantly surprised. Most movies made from good books are awful and never live up to my expectations. Maybe I've lowered my standards, but I liked this movie. Percy is 17 in real life, Annabeth is 24 and Grover is 26 so pulling off 12 years old would have been difficult, I think they were going for teens around 15 or so instead.
I read lots of things and books are always better then any movie. My imagination is so much better then any director could ever put on screen. Reading is were the real movies happen for me, I love to read. Of course it is fun to have a book you like made into a movie, more people see movies then read the books so then you can discuss what you liked about the movie and the book and hopefully more people will read the book then.
David and I read most books before we go to the movie, I still haven't seen The Time Travelers Wife because I haven't read the book. I won't see Dear John because I did read the book and I can't have that emotional upheaval again.
