Just sad or scary - what kind of person am I

So -I cannot read Marley and Me and yet yesterday I read Night out loud and had no problems.  I have also read Hunger Games several times to classes without a problem - Dogs dying and I cry - people not so much - If I were a psychologist I might come up with some words to describe people like me.  I think it is the innocents of animals compared to the cunning of humans - 

Complete Failure

I was asked to read the last few chapters of this book to a class ---explanation first I have avoided this book like the plaque I have not seen the movie and I don't want to talk about it at all.  So I tried I made it a page a a half before I was crying so hard I could not see the words on the page and I could barely breathe.  Epic Fail for sure!  I had students work on homework.  Fail - I cannot read stuff like this -
